“Turning Point” was originally painted in November 2024, on 36”x48” canvas. The reference photo was from a picture I took upstream from Wizard Falls at the Metolius River / Camp Sherman, Oregon area in October 2024, right as the fall leaves were starting to pop. The morning light was coming through the trees, illuminating one bank of the river while the other was backlit and shady. The fall leaves of the vine maples and other foliage were just starting to pop, and the colors are just spectacular!
The Metolius river is one of my favorite places on the planet!
The name “Turning Point” signifies two things: this is where the river starts to bend, and secondly, this was the first painting I did after nearly 7 years since I became a mom. This painting represents my own personal turning point in coming back to my love of painting and re-prioritizing the time and space to do so!
